Judy Blazer (ME AND MY GIRL), Francis Jue (THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE), Joan Barber, Yuval Boim, David Deblinger, Ron Domingo, Pierre Epstein, Lauren Klein, Jason Liebman, Jake Manabat, Orville Mendoza, Jeremy Rishe, Ari Stacherl and Daniel Velasco comprise the cast that will perform in Ma-Yi’s PAPER DOLLS reading.
Feb. 12: Benefit Performance of The Wong Kids in the Secret of the Space Chupacabra Go! at La MaMa For the Randy Gener Fund
The February 12th performance of THE WONG KIDS IN THE SECRET OF THE SPACE CHUPACABRA GO! – a co-production of Ma-Yi Theater and La MaMa – will be a benefit for the Randy Gener Fund to raise money to help support the medical costs of Mr. Gener, an award-winning journalist, editor and artist, who was attacked in Midtown, a block away from his apartment.

I reconnected with Rick Shiomi, the author of one of my favorite plays, “Yellow Fever,” when we were both in Washington D.C. at the Asian Reading Room of the Library of Congress in the Thomas Jefferson Building. The groundbreaking Asian-North American playwright, taiko troupe leader, and artistic director of Mu Performing Arts, was on a week long book tour to promote “Asian American Plays for a New Generation” (Temple University Press, June 2011), which he co-edited with Josephine Lee and Don Eitel.
