The joint was jumpin’ at 54 Below for Tony award-winner Tonya Pinkins on the last Monday in August, where she channeled Ethel Waters, the legendary African-American actress, jazz-era singer and entertainer who was America’s first International superstar of any race, in an evening featuring excerpts from Hurricane Ethel, Ms. Pinkins upcoming one woman show written in collaboration with Dennis Courtney.
