Celebrating over seventy-five years of having public art in hospitals, the NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation’s Art Collection proudly presents their traveling photographic exhibition, New York City: IN FOCUS, Vol. 2. This exhibition is a modern take on the 1950’s photographic exhibit, Family of Man. The exhibit features a collection of black and white, color, and digital prints that focus on different aspects of iconic imagery; architecture, landscape, culture, and people through-out the five boroughs and snapshots of the NYC experience.

The exhibition showcases the work of fifty internationally renowned, New York based photographers, as well as, emerging photographers. Some of the photographers featured in the exhibit are James VanDerZee, Roxanne Lowit, Dawoud Bey, Anthony Barboza, Linda Cummings, Omar Kharem, Chee Wang Ng, Monika Merva, Syd London, Arlene Gottfried, Jose Gutierrez, Jamel Shabazz, Alex Harley, Trang Bui, Nancy Siesel, Bo Zhang, and Mick Rock, among others.

This art exhibition, New York City: IN FOCUS, Vol. 2, a sequel to the 2008 traveling exhibit, NYC: IN FOCUS, is part of the continuous series of art exhibitions hosted by the HHC Art Collection. These events offer the opportunity for museums, galleries, educators, and the general public to become familiar with the Art Collection, as well an opportunity to showcase established and emerging artists. This is part of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation’s philosophy of supporting the community it serves.

Lia Chang is an actor, performance and fine art botanical photographer, and an award-winning multimedia journalist.

As a photographer and videographer, Lia collaborates with artists, organizations and companies in establishing their documentary photo archive and social media presence. She has been documenting her colleagues and contemporaries in the arts, fashion and journalism since making her stage debut as Liat in the National Tour of South Pacific, with Robert Goulet and Barbara Eden. Lia currently plays Nurse Lia on “One Life to Live”. She has appeared in Wolf, New Jack City, A Kiss Before Dying, King of New York, Big Trouble in Little China, The Last Dragon, Taxman and “New York Undercover”.

Selections of Lia’s archive of Asian Pacific Americans in the arts, fashion, journalism, politics and space are in the newly created LIA CHANG THEATER PHOTOGRAPHY PORTFOLIO in the ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN PERFORMING ARTS COLLECTION housed in the Library of Congress Asian Division’s Asian American Pacific Islander Collection.
