In 1967, Erlinda married Angelito (Dodong) Maghuyop on January 7th and they were together 49 years. In the Philippines, Erlinda worked as a school teacher and helped her large family back home.
Erlinda and Angelito wanted to establish a better life and decided to move to the U.S. in the early 1970s where Angelito worked as an accountant and Erlinda worked as a unit secretary for over 15 years at the West Houston Medical Center. They welcomed their only son, Melvin Sagrado Maghuyop, who was born on June 27, 1972 in Chicago, Illinois.
