The Actors Fund Special Performance of THE KING AND I starring Jose Llana and Tony winner Kelli O’Hara on September 20

I am very excited to be going to The Actors Fund special performance of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s beloved classic THE KING AND I, starring Jose Llana as the King of Siam and Tony winners Kelli O’Hara as Anna and Ruthie Ann Miles as Lady Thiang, on Sunday, September 20th at 8pm.  The entire company will donate their time and talent for this performance that will directly benefit The Actors Fund. Helmed by Bartlett Sher, Tony-winning revival of THE KING AND I is currently in residence at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, 150 West 65th Street in New York. 

THE KING AND I is the winner of 4 2015 Tony Awards — Best Revival of a Musical, Best Actress in a Musical (Kelli O’Hara), Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Ruthie Ann Miles), and Best Costume Design of a Musical (Catherine Zuber).

Actors Fund Special Performances have been thrilling audiences for more than 80 years with an electric energy unlike any other night of theatre! Each year, Broadway companies, in New York and on the road, generously give their time and talent by adding a performance to already rigorous schedules to benefit The Actors Fund. In order to make Special Performances possible, members of Actors’ Equity Association, Associated Musicians of Greater New York, Local 802 AFM, Association of Theatrical Press Agents and Managers, Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers and United Scenic Artists Union, waive their compensation to help The Actors Fund continue its vital work.

The Actors Fund is a national human services organization that helps everyone-performers and those behind the scenes-who works in performing arts and entertainment, helping more than 17,000 people directly each year, and hundreds of thousands online. Please be advised that the Shinnyo Lantern Floating for Peace Event will be staged in Hearst Plaza outside the theatre. Allow a little extra arrival time in order to both see this beautiful event and allow for extra foot traffic.

While patrons may enter the Beaumont via Columbus Avenue and the plaza, and on 65th Street via the Linda Janklow Foyer, they will not be able to enter the Beaumont via the stairs on 65th Street that go directly up to the plaza level.
