On the first Tuesday night of April, dancers are in full swing to the sounds of The George Gee Swing Orchestra, one of NYC’s top Swing Jazz Big Band, at NYC’s SWING46 Jazz & Supper Club in Times Square. I’ve come to take a twirl on the dance floor with birthday boy George Gee, the internationally renowned swing Big Band leader who holds court every Tuesday night at the club with his Orchestra, and to chat about the Indiegogo Campaign for his new CD, “Swing Makes You Happy”. Click here to contribute to the campaign which ends on April 26, 2014. George has cleared the dance floor for the Big Band Birthday Jam. He and his fellow birthday swinger, Tricia Fukuhara are in the center, with each of the dancers on the perimeter taking turns swinging with them. What a joyful way to celebrate your birthday! George’s latest CD has been recorded (due to the gracious contributions from Buddy Steves of Swing BudFilms, Charles Hamowy of You Should Be Dancing Studios, Cobi Narita of Jazz Center of NY, Tom Koerner / Debra Sternberg of GottaSwing Productions and Judy Pritchet of SavoyStyle), and he has launched his Indiegogo Campaign for support pledges to mix, master, license and duplicate the CD album – in time for The George Gee Swing Orchestra’s performances at the fabulous Frankie Manning Centennial and Frankie Centennial Savoy Ball in New York City during the Memorial Day Weekend of May 23-26, 2014.
