On December 31, 2013, Broadway legend Chita Rivera will perform 2 shows – 7PM and 11PM, accompanied by her longtime trio – music director Michael Croiter, Michael Patrick Walker and Jim Donica, ushering in 2014 at 54 Below. The cover charge @ 7PM is $300 and @ 11PM is $400. Ms. Rivera was profiled on CBS SUNDAY MORNING by correspondent Mo Rocca, who got a rare glimpse into the theatrical icon’s home, personal and professional life, and talked with her about early beginnings in Washington D.C. and New York, the original Broadway production of West Side Story in 1957 (which brought her fame), marriage, the birth of her daughter, and starring roles in such landmark musicals as Bye Bye Birdie, Chicago, The Rink, Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Dancer’s Life, The Visit and more. Ms. Rivera has received two Tony Awards (for The Rink and Kiss of the Spider Woman), and seven additional nominations. She is the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2009), The Kennedy Center Honor (2002), was appointed to a special Kennedy Center Honors Advisory Committee (2013), and hundreds of additional awards and honors throughout her illustrious career.
